Atlas Copco launched the “Water for All” charity organization in Sweden in 1984 with the aim of providing clean drinking water to developing countries. This project formally entered into China in 2014. For 3 years, Atlas Copco supported “Water for All projects” in Gansu and Shaanxi - and starting last year, they started supporting a project in Liangshan.

Starting from April 2016, Atlas Copco supported a project implemented by Humana People to People through China Charities Aid Foundation for Children. The project is a Community Development project in Butuo County, Liangshan Prefecture. The grant money is raised from employees and the company matches 1:2, so for every 1 RMB given by staff the company adds 2 RMB. Staff from Atlas Copco visits the project to check and film the activities. The period of the program is from the 1st of April 2016 to the 31st of March 2017.

Students at Eqing Primary school are trained on good hygiene habits both in theory and practice.

Students were not only taught about hygiene and sanitation but they were also taught about healthy eating, what a balanced diet consists of etc.

The Community Development (CD) Huolie program addresses water, health, hygiene and sanitation problems. The program is focused on building the capacity and health knowledge of the community.

To spread awareness of health and hygiene to students at Eqing Primary school, the project team discussed with the school’s headmaster and teachers on how to start students’ clubs at the school. They discussed which types of trainings are suitable and which activities the students can do to raise health, hygiene and sanitation awareness among themselves and in the community at large. The school staff welcomed the idea. On the 30th of June 2016 the project established 8 student clubs with a total of 300 students from 6 classes and from then until now 12 trainings have been given to the students. The students are trained by the project team on issues such as brushing teeth, washing hair, taking care of finger nails, washing hands after using the toilet, the importance of bathing, what a balanced diet consists of etc. To give the students possibility to take a warm bath,  one of the project activities was to construct a bathroom consisting of 8 shower heads, 4 for boys and 4 for girls furthermore the project provided towels, shampoo, bathing soap and bath liquids for each student.
A solar heater with 36 pipes was also installed so students have hot water for bathing. A hand washing sink with 5 taps was constructed making it convenient for students to wash their hands after using the toilet. Now many students take a bath regularly and wash their hands after using the toilet, a habit that will help change well being and influence the attitude of both the students and the community at large.  When the new habit is instilled in the students it is more likely that they will take it back home to their families and friends.

To encourage the students to bath regularly the project provided them with towels, shampoo, bathing soap and bathing liquids.

Bathing regularly becomes a habit that will hopefully follow the children in their adult life.
