With the approval of the State Council, August 23rd to 29th this year were designated the week-long national campaign to promote energy conservation, and August 25th the National Low Carbon Day.

"Energy conservation and carbon reduction for green Development" is the theme of this year's week-long national campaign to promote energy conservation. "Low-carbon life, green future" is the theme of the National Low Carbon Day.

During this Week, the National Development and Reform Commission worked with relevant departments around the theme of publicity, in accordance with the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality, organized relative campaigns to enhance the whole society's energy saving consciousness and capacity, and promoted green and low-carbon production and lifestyle, thereby advancing towards developing an ecological civilization, and building a beautiful China.

To  mobilize the whole society to participate in low-carbon action and improve the awareness of coping with climate change, many measures have been taken. Popular science education on tackling climate change, notably "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality” have been emphasized. Campaigns to climate change have also been carried out, including its influence and risks, progress and effectiveness of China's response, "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality” and relevant policies and measures, advanced experience in green and low-carbon development and adaptation to climate change as well as specific actions for the public to practice green and low carbon lifestyle.

[Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Week] A public welfare activity approved by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council is aimed at environmental protection, energy conservation and emission reduction.

[Peak Carbon Dioxide Emissions] It means that the carbon dioxide emission reaches the highest value in history and enters the stage of gradual decline after reaching the peak. China will strive to reach the peak of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.

Step 2: register and learn about the The Weekly Carbon Recorder calculator. From now on, record your own carbon footprint in one week.

After all category records are completed, click "Submit" to generate this week's "carbon footprint".

Step 3: after 4 weeks, click "My" - "Carbon Footprint" to check the 4-week "food, clothing, housing and transportation" carbon footprint generated by the applet. You can also click "Leaderboard" to understand the "carbon footprint" between you and your friends!

Project introduction:

Yunnan Low-carbon Schools Pilot Project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the People to People Foundation (Spanish member of HPP) in cooperation with FAIHPP (Switzerland) Yunnan Representative Office, Yunnan Academy for Science and Technical Information, Southwest Forestry University, Chinese Youth Climate Action Network, Green Kunming (Kunming Environmental Popular Science Association) and  Kunming Good Deed Public Welfare Community Development Service Center with a project cycle from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023. The project begins by increasing partners’ awareness and advocacy on climate change mitigation and environmental protection, by raising climate change awareness among 600 schools, 70,000 students and teachers, determine the emission benchmark through basic calculation, and then implement emission reduction work in 50 Carbon Compliant Pioneer Schools. Use science, technology, innovation and other means to respond to “climate action” to accelerate environmental sustainability and promote the transition from green campuses to low-carbon and carbon-neutral campuses.
