HPP POF Butuo began its operations in 2012. A few weeks into the winter semester of 2012, project staff noticed the children were only wearing thin clothes insufficient to withstand the winter cold. They decided to launch a “warm winter” crow-funding page on Yahoo’s online philanthropy platform. Link to the page: HPP China’s first experience of online fundraising on Yahoo is a success
In 2013, HPP staff was well prepared for the coming of winter. As early as August, project staff already started contacting various organizations to collect winter clothes donations for the children.
These three preschools of Beijing and Xichang Eco preschool all donated clothes to POF Butuo children.
At the end of year 2013, staff of Humana Beijing office delivered the clothes donations to Butuo project site. It was an arduous journey; midway the car encountered heavy snowfall in the mountains which blocked the road access.
We want to thank all the organizations who donated clothes to the children of POF Butuo, with your assistance they were able to enjoy a warm winter! Due to the high altitude and harsh climatic conditions of Butuo County, there is an on-going demand for warm winter clothes for the children. Here we would like to initiate a resource sharing platform, hoping that the children of POF Butuo can enjoy a warm winter every year!
