Humana People to People won The Excellent Performing Organization Award by China Charities Aid Foundation for Children Tongyuan Sponsorship Program III

On Jan. 7, the Foundation Sponsorship Road Development Forum was successfully held by China Charities Aid Foundation for Children (‘CCAFC’)in Alibaba Lecture Hall, Building 2, Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. Meanwhile, the “Excellent Performing Organizations” and the “Excellent Projects” sponsored by Tongyuan Sponsorship Programme III were awarded. Wei Jiuming, former president of CCAFC and Wang Lin, President & General Secretary of CCAFC presented the prizes to the Excellent Performing Organizations sponsored by Tongyuan Sponsorship Programme III and 2016 Tongyuan China MVP Excellent Projects respectively.
The Federation for Associations connected to the International Humana People to People Movement (Switzerland) Yunnan Project Office won The Excellent Performing Organization Award for our Butuo Preschool of the Future Project (POF). Country Representative Michael Hermann on behalf of Humana People to People (HPP) walked onstage to receive the award and did a short speech as representative of the 5 winning organizations. First, he hailed CCAFC’s great effort and contribution to child aid, and appreciated CCACF’s sponsorship and support to grassroots. Then he said the award not only is an affirmation of HPP’s implementation capacity, but it encourages HPP to move forward step by step steadily on the public benefit road in the future.
Butuo POF is located in Butuo County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It was sponsored by Tongyuan Programme with 200,000RMB for the school year 01.08.2012 to 31.07.2013. The project provided 276 Yi children with preschool education and was the start of HPP’s ongoing engagement in preschool education in Butuo County. The project aimed at preventing poor children to become poor adults. Through preschool education, children’s early intellectual, creative, emotional and social capabilities get strengthened, so the chance of young people getting rid of poverty increased, preschool classes promote social development. At the same time, women are “freed”? and have more time to take part in family economic activities, which help alleviate the impoverished minority community from poverty.
This project included 5 POF classes, - each with 2 preschool instructors – and benefited 276 children aged at 5 to 8 years old from receiving preschool education. New teaching methods develop children’s ability, such as using brain, using hands, obtain experiences and open imaginations. Meanwhile, in order to improve children’s nutrition, nutrition breakfast was provided to every child in the preschool. Our project was recognized not only by parents and villagers, but also by the local Education Bureau. The local Education Bureau provided 1 of the 2 teachers in every class. Now, more and more preschool classes are opening in Butuo County, so more and more children have a good and bright start on life.
