In the past winter holiday, the 7 Humana preschool education projects organized all the preschool teachers to have a 5-day training. There were 102 preschool teachers joining the training.

Humana preschool teachers are all selected by and from the local community, and parents and village committee recommend young people with middle school education or above. And the Humana preschool education project provides training to help them to become qualified teachers. HPP Teacher training would train the teachers about class management, how to make teaching plans, how to prepare the lessons, so the teachers would get the basic knowledge, skills and abilities so that they could teach according to government related department’s guidance and to make sure children’s physical and mental healthy growth.

Humana teacher training has 4 parts: initial training, monthly self study in study groups (3-5 teachers living nearby form a study group), monthly training, and summer and winter holiday training. Winter training lasts for a week. During this winter’s training, first the teachers summarized last semester’s teaching result, and reported the problems happening in the daily teaching and class management, and discussed the solutions. Then according to “Humana Preschool of the Future Teacher Training Book”, the teachers were trained about how to cultivate children’s attention, Humana teaching principles, how to cultivate family education, etc. At the same time, the project leaders of each county preschool project trained the teachers in practical music and dancing teaching, and also invited model teacher to illustrate teaching methods. Besides, the project trained the teachers how to use the newly developed “Parents’ Training book”, and the  mixed age class teaching book provided by Beijing Guyu Qianqianshu charity education partner. The project officers also illustrated to the teachers how to use and collect data, in order to cultivate teachers’ management skills.

In the course of training, theoretical studies are combined with illustrating examples, and the illustrating examples also are combined with various games, which made the training courses easily understandable and interesting. Teachers shared their experiences, and communicated with each other and learned from each other, which made teachers improve fast. And since the teachers had already some teaching experiences in their communities and a learning basis, the teachers all improved a lot, and at the same time gained each others’ friendships and memorable memories.
