Zhenkang County, Lincang City,  is located at the Southwest border of Yunnan Province, at the westside of Lincang City and bordering with Myanmar. Han, Dai, Wa, De’ang and other 23 ethnic groups live here for generations. With the passing of time, in the border county’s natural villages, a variety of problems have emerged in many preschools.

More than 70% preschools of the HPP “Preschool of the Future”project in Zhenkang are closed rural primary schools. Most schools have been idle for some years, some basic supporting facilities, such as running tap water, toilets, etc might not longer work. "Wet shoes, wrestling with mud, every rainy day meet some of these children", told teacher Li Shutian who comes from Xiangzhuangba preschool, and she always worried about that every rainy season. The preschool children are so young and little, whenever it rains, children can’t play outside, the most worrying thing is that it’s not safe for children to go to the toilet. Xiangzhuanba preschool’s playground is still earthen floor, when the rainy season comes, weeds will grow automatically, teacher has to clean it every once in a while. After the rain the playground is always wet and slippery. Because there is no activity room, on rainy days or hot summer days, the teachers do not dare to let the children play outside, they worry about the children slip, fall or get overheated.

Due to the limited funds for the project, we applied to China Children Aid Foundation for Charities in April 2015, to use their online fundraising platform. We launched the online crowd fundraising project “Renovate school buildings, we need your support”on the Tencent Charity donation platform. It received strong support from many kindhearted people in society, and successfully raised RMB 151,600 yuan in total. Renovated 12 preschools which needed renovation, and the renovation work was finished last November.

This time it is the second round for the crowd fundraising. The project wishes to raise money for 16 Zhenkang preschools to repair classrooms and other facilities.
