The collaboration between the China Tomorrow Education Foundation (CTEF) and HPP China focuses on precisely addressing the weaknesses of early childhood education in remote rural areas. Through diverse public welfare projects such as classroom renovations and teacher incentives, the Foundation brings the light of happiness to children and teachers in remote villages, ensuring the warm current of public welfare reaches the "last mile."

      On April 29, 2026, representatives of CTEF visited Tengchong, Yunnan. They successively visited the Foundation's project-supported Menglian Kindergarten in Tengyue Town and Bawa Kindergarten in Puchuan Township, as well as other non-project-supported kindergartens. They held discussions with frontline teachers and conducted on-site inspections to understand the project's progress and the current state of rural early childhood education.

Renovating Colorful Classrooms, Brightening Childhood Learning Spaces

      In 2025, CTEF supported the upgrade of hardware facilities in 8 preschool classes across 3 townships (Tengyue, Puchuan, and Tiantian) in Tengchong City. This included laying smooth flooring and repainting walls in classrooms. The once simple and dim classrooms have become tidy and warm, creating a safe and comfortable learning and growth environment for over 200 rural children.

     During this visit, CTEF representatives inspected the renovation results, fully affirmed the project's effectiveness, and clarified the direction for future support: continuing to focus on the core needs of village preschools, prioritizing the optimization of teaching spaces, ensuring every donation is used effectively, and tangibly improving the learning experience for rural children.

Empowering Rural Teachers, Strengthening the Foundation for Educational Development

         Rural teachers are the "lamp lighters" of early childhood education. Addressing the plight of rural part-time teachers who face "no security and few benefits," CTEF's teacher support program supports 14 rural part-time teachers in Tengchong City. It provides monthly subsidies and pays for rural medical insurance and accident insurance, effectively alleviating their worries and allowing these teachers dedicated to rural early childhood education to teach with peace of mind and nurture with warmth. To tackle issues like the lack of training resources for rural teachers and the tendency for teaching to become "primary-school oriented," the Foundation has partnered with HPP to build a professional growth platform. This includes organizing centralized training for teachers each semester, helping them master practical skills such as picture book teaching, environment creation, and gamified instruction. Many teachers who participated in the training reported that the systematic training helped them overcome the confusion of "not knowing how to teach." Now, their classroom designs are more engaging, their teaching methods more professional, and their sense of professional happiness has significantly improved.

      During the visit, representatives of CTEF also had in-depth exchanges with Fang Changyuan, Director of the General Office of the Tengchong City Education and Sports Bureau. They actively promoted effective collaboration between the education department and the public welfare organization, precisely filling the gaps in rural early childhood education, providing strong support for teacher training and hardware upgrades, and contributing to the balanced, high-quality development of rural education.

From a bright classroom to a warm sense of security; from a professional training session to sustained teaching support—CTEF gathers small acts of kindness into a river, using responsibility and commitment to protect the young hearts of children in borderland villages.

In the future, the Foundation will continue to delve into rural education, working hand-in-hand with partners to inject lasting momentum into rural preschool education with more precise support and more practical actions, ensuring that every rural child can grow up facing the sun and pursue their dreams under the warm sunlight!

Project Introduction:

The CTEF-HPP Tengchong Preschools of the Future Teacher Support Project in Yunnan is funded by CTEF and jointly implemented by HPP and the Tengchong City Education and Sports Bureau. The project focuses on building the team of rural part-time preschool teachers. By improving the welfare system for these teachers—purchasing insurance and providing subsidies—it aims to reduce teacher turnover and enhance team stability. Monthly consumable teaching materials and activity supplies are provided for the preschool classes, and centralized teacher training is organized each semester to continuously improve teaching capabilities. The project implementation team conducts regular supervision each semester to help teachers solve difficulties and problems encountered in daily teaching activities. By stabilizing the teacher team and improving teaching quality, the project provides fair and quality preschool education services for children aged 3-6 in rural areas.
