Hongyan villagers voluntarily built a road for the preschool kids

Research shows that early childhood education has a crucial impact on the mental development of a person. In order to have a brilliant new generation in China all children should receive three years of preschool education; however 23 million rural kids in China still lack access to  3 years’ early education. HPP China carries out the Preschools of the Future (POF) project to prevent poor kids from becoming poor adults by giving them the skills they need to change their expectations of their lives.

HPP China now operates 18 preschools in Zhenkang county, located in Lincang city, Yunnan province. Hongyan village preschool is one of these preschools.
The only way for Hongyan preschool kids to walk to class every day is by a dirt road beside the classroom, which is 100 meters from a pond. This road will be muddy when it rains and becomes a potential danger to school kids; a safer cement road needed to be built.

After a proposal and mobilization by the preschool teacher, Hongyan villagers took the initiative to collect money from every family, and voluntarily built this road. In less than one week, the dangerous muddy road was made into a cement road. A warm thank you to the villagers that built a safe road to our preschool!
