HPP POF Teachers attended the 2015 Rural Preschool Education Quality Improvement Workshop- ‘United Project Training’ - in Kunming

On Dec. 25 and Dec. 26, 2015, the representative teachers from all the Preschool of the Future Projects (POF) of Humana People to People (HPP) attended the 2015 Rural Preschool Education Quality Improvement Workshop – ‘United Project Training’ -, which was sponsored by Macau Tong Chai Charity Association Beijing Office (Tong Chai) in Kunming and held by Humana People to People China (HPP China)

The training lasted two days. The participants included preschool teachers from HPP China POF projects, preschool teachers from Guizhou Pensioners for Rural Development Foundation, kindergarten teachers and leaders from Chenxi Children Development Centre of Tiandong County Guangxi Province, kindergarten teachers and leaders from Huiqi Gongyi in Dali City, and kindergarten teachers and leaders from Hebei and Shaanxi. The trainers were Pan Lihua, Zhang Hongyan and Xu Lifang who are from Thousand Trees Equal Education Partners. The first day, the training and demo about listening and reading were given by Pan Lihua and Zhang Hongyan. The second day the trainer teacher was Xu Lifang and she gave training about music.


Music activities are children’s favorite. Not only could they pave the way for developing children’s musical capabilities in the future, but also music is important to develop children’s physical, social, listening and emotional expression skills, and etc. But, currently in many rural basic level preschools and schools, musical activities are generally missing. The teachers think that they never received the specialized music training, and the instruments such as pianos are lacking in preschools and schools. Usually, musical activities are impracticable due to lack of people or funds. However, Orff Music is a kind of music art education which is pretty suitable to rural regions. It can help teachers to build up the correct idea in children's music education, and realize that children’s music learning starts from language which can attach to the rhythm. Therefore, the specialized instrument is not necessary, but after certain training, an ordinary teacher can provide abundant of music activities for children. Orff Music is active and interesting. It can help the teachers who never received specialized music training to build up self-confidence and realize their potential.


During the training, all the teachers were studying diligently and attentively, and interacting with each other proactively. After training, the teachers gave feedback like this, “we learnt a lot and will apply all the skilles to the practical teaching, and share with other teachers for mutual improvement”.
